Bomb-Sniffing: For the Dogs

Consultant Roy Bordes says the four-legged bomb-sniffing dog is a worthwhile investment for certain large companies.

Consultant Roy Bordes says the four-legged friend is a worthwhile investment for certain large companies. “For clients in rural areas or where they have less coverage than New York and Chicago, we recommend they work with the police department and buy a bomb dog. Pay and have police take care of it,” Bordes says. A search that takes a person two hours will take a good dog 30 minutes.

“If [a device] has nitrates in it, the dog will find it,” Bordes says. “A dog is the best search item in the world—and less expensive than a robot.”
